Skills that an intermediary must have

An intermediary usually must have a number of skills. He must have commercial skills, so that he can quickly see new opportunities. In contact with the customer and the flex worker, he must also have tact and empathy, so that he can sense when he can or cannot say something. Furthermore, an intermediary must absolutely have good organizational skills. He has a multitude of tasks and must be able to easily determine what has priority. Perhaps the most important thing is that he or she is stress-resistant. A flex worker will often have to deal with urgent requests, for example if a hirer needs a number of people at short notice, while they are not immediately available. He or she also has to deal with difficult flex workers who, for example, cancel at the last minute.

How do I become an intermediary?

The profession of intermediary is usually very accessible, because no special training is required. An employment agency often requires at least a higher professional education background. The candidate also usually has to do an assessment. Another requirement is usually to have a Driver’s License B. Courses that usually fit well with the profession of incercedent are Management, Economics & Law, Business Administration, Commercial, Economics or Social Work and Services. The salary of an intermediary is quite low in the beginning, usually around fifteen hundred euros gross. Over time, this can grow to 2300 euros. At larger temporary employment companies, such as Randstad, Adecco, Tempo Team, Start, Creyls, Timing, Accord, Unique and Olympia, there are usually more career opportunities, for example as a branch manager or in a specialized department.
