Rotterdam is the second city in the Netherlands and known for its large port. If you like shopping, Rotterdam is a great place to go. Below are tips for a successful day of shopping in Rotterdam. Furthermore, an overview of opening hours, shopping evenings, shopping Sundays and sales is available.

A day of shopping, how is the city accessible?

Rotterdam is best accessible by train. You are immediately in the center of the city when you get off at Rotterdam Central Station. You can also move quickly through the city when you take the tram or metro. The city is also accessible by car, but you have to take parking costs into account. In Rotterdam you have to pay for parking in the popular neighborhoods and streets. This includes the center. The rates in the center are 2.5 euros or 3 euros per hour.

Shopping tips for clothes and shoes

You can find clothes, shoes, everything. Rotterdam is of course home to all well-known retail chains, such as Zara, V&D and H&M. All major retail chains and department stores can be found around Beursplein and Lijnbaan. This area is also called the Koopgoot. Fun and interesting shopping streets with often smaller boutiques or trendy shops are the Nieuwe Binnenweg, the Nieuwemarkt, Pannekoekstraat, the Van Oldenbarneveltstraat, the Laurenskwartier, Rondom het Zwaanhals, the Mini Mall and the Witte de Withstraat. Alexandrium is also very well-known, which is located outside the center. Alexandrium is a large shopping boulevard with hundreds of shops and home furnishing stores.

The regular opening hours of the clothing, shoe and fashion stores in Rotterdam are as follows:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Friday: 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM (shopping evening)

A day of shopping often costs a lot of money. To save money on your clothes and shoes, you can shop during sales, also known as sales.
