You are going to study, but you are unsure whether you want to join a student association. Of course, a student association is a lot of fun, but you also want to complete your studies. There are also many different student associations, but which one suits you? Of course, you don’t want to end up with an association that doesn’t really suit you at all. It is of course a requirement that you feel at home in a student association. Due to the diversity of associations, there is always an association that suits you. The first thing you should ask yourself is whether you want to join a social club or a sports club. At a social club, fun is the most important thing, while at a sports club, in addition to having fun, you also play sports. You can also choose from Christian associations or music associations.
The largest social clubs in Delft
The largest social clubs are KSV Sanctus Virgilius (Virgiel) and the Delftsch Studenten Corps (DSC). There are many students who are unsure whether they want to become a member of Virgiel or DSC. Virgiel was founded in 1898 and is now the largest student association in Delft. DSC is a close second in terms of the number of members. These associations do not have many differences. The biggest difference is the type of students walking around and you really have to experience that yourself. A choice between these two is one of feeling and the OWEE (reception week) offers you a good opportunity for that.
Other major social clubs are Sint Jansbrug and the Delftsche Studenten Bond (DSB). If you find Virgiel and DSC too massive, but still want to join a large student association, these two might be for you. With more than 700 members, Sint Jansbrug is a large student association and a good alternative to the big two. With 300 members, DSB is a lot more intimate, but with nice traditions.

Christian associations
There are three Christian associations in Delft.

- VGSD
If you choose to join a Christian association, you can contact these three. A Christian association is more oriented towards faith. In addition to pleasant drinks, evenings are also organized to think about faith and to study the book of the Bible. There are not many differences in these three associations. Here too, you must feel at home with your association. Feeling is extremely important in your choice. Or else let the Lord make a choice for you.
Sports clubs
In addition to social clubs, there are also sports clubs. Whether you like rugby, volleyball or rowing, Delft offers it all.

Rowing
Many prospective students choose to take up rowing during their student years. It is therefore not surprising that the rowing clubs in Delft are also among the larger clubs. Delft has two rowing clubs, namely DSRV Laga and DSR Proteus-Eretes. Laga has a maximum number of members and many students are disappointed if they are not selected. Anyone can become a member of Proteus.
Musical associations
If you like music, a music association might be something for you. There are two music associations in Delft. Groover is one of them. Groover is the ideal choice if you like jazz, because it is a jazz association. Krashna, the other association, on the other hand, is for those who love classical music. For example, you can play music there in an orchestra or in a choir.
Sister associations
You can often choose to become a member of a sister association at large social clubs. This is usually a sports club. For example, at Virgiel you can choose to play football or climb. Many students choose to join a sister association. You have to get rid of your beer belly somehow.
