Father’s Day gifts to make yourself

We all want to be original on Father’s Day. The most hackneyed homemade gift given on Father’s Day is the painted rock with the text ,My dad is a rock,. If you want to do something different, read on. Every father is happy with a self-made gift from his children. Men who are not yet fathers usually cannot imagine it, but fathers are generally happiest with a homemade gift. You have spent time and attention on this and most fathers really appreciate that. More than an (expensive) gift from the store.

The photo

Photograph your children in old-fashioned clothing, preferably with an old cap or hat. Or take a look at your husband’s old photo album. Which photo attracts the most attention? The one with the bear on the stool? Put your child in the same setting and approximately the same position in the photo. Print this photo in black and white and make a nice frame around it. Another idea is to paint and decorate an unpainted frame (Xenos) and place the photo in it. And if the photo is based on an old photo of the father, you can add a print of it to complete the story. Of course, a nice photo of dad with the child is also a good idea.

Teenagers could possibly imitate a funny child’s photo of themselves with their brothers/sisters. What does that funny photo look like when they do the same thing or make the same face as in the child photo?

Home baked cookies

Bake your own cookies and make fun figures from them. Make sure they are all approximately the same size. If necessary, you can decorate the cookies with icing afterwards and then wrap them nicely and you have a nice Father’s Day gift. Older children can also choose to make and decorate cupcakes themselves as a variant.

The handprint

Make something original with your child’s handprint. Place the handprint on a mug or cake plate with porcelain paint or on a glass with glass paint. Fill the glass or mug with chocolates. Wrap it nicely and you have an original gift.
You can also do the same with fabric paint and a washcloth or a number of handkerchiefs. Add a nice bar of soap or, if necessary, a tube of toothpaste and another funny gift that daddy will certainly appreciate.
If you prefer not to make a utensil, you can of course also decorate a tile with a handprint and a date. Stick a hanging hook to the back of the tile so that Dad can attach it to the wall.

Make a keychain

Get some sheets of Krimpie Dinkie or Shrinky Dinks from the hobby shop or toy store and draw the child’s hand circumference or foot circumference on them. Then cut out the hand or foot. Let the child color and decorate it themselves. Don’t forget to make a hole in the hand or foot with the hole punch. Then put it in the oven and the drawing shrinks to a nice size. Thread a metal ring through it and you have a key ring. If you have never worked with Krimpie Dinkie, read the instructions for use carefully.

Drawing for Father’s Day

Write Dad in big bold letters on a drawing sheet. Let the child color the letters beautifully. If the child accidentally goes over the outer lines too much, you can consider cutting out the letters again and sticking them on another sheet. This way you have a nice letter drawing that daddy will certainly be very happy with. When it’s almost Father’s Day and your daughter needs to get a present for daddy quickly, you can also put on a lot of lipstick and kiss on a piece of paper. Possibly some hairspray on top so that the lip prints stay in place and at least daddy knows that he is very sweet.

Tip for dad: mothers probably really appreciate these gifts too. Maybe it’s not a bad idea to get started with the children.
