Tips for a sleepover at your home

Everyone has a guest at home who stays overnight. Of course we want to make the guest happy, so that he or she goes home with a good feeling. To make your guest happy, you must arrange everything before and during your stay. It is nice if your guest has a wonderful room that is equipped with all needs. Sufficient sanitary facilities and food are also very important for your sleeping guest. To really send your guest home with a smile, there are all kinds of tips to make their stay more pleasant. Consider, for example, a welcome present or some extra atmosphere in the bedroom. Welcoming a sleeping guest usually causes a lot of stress. Everything has to be arranged and of course you want to look good. The house must be spick and span, especially the room where your guest is staying.

Dates

It is important that you make agreements with your guest in advance. For example, you can make agreements about what they should bring with them. Do they have to provide their own sheets or do they get a made bed upon arrival? Do they need to bring enough towels and washcloths or do you have a supply? It is also important to talk to your guest about the planning you have made. For example, if you are going to the swimming pool, it might also be nice for the guest to bring his or her swimming trunks or bikini. If you live on a farm, boots may not be an unnecessary luxury.

It is also useful to ask your guest about any allergies or eating habits. This way you can get what your guest likes and is allowed to eat in terms of food. Take into account the fact that there are people who do not like pets. Whether they just don’t like it or have an actual allergy to it, make sure your pet is around your guest as little as possible. Maybe you can take your pet out for a temporary stay or give him a place in the utility room.

Preparing the house

Once the agreements have been made, it is up to you to prepare the house. Tidy things up a bit and bring fresh air into the house. Open windows and doors to properly ventilate the house. Perhaps it is a good plan to burn some scented candles or sticks of incense to give the house a wonderful scent. It is also advisable to clean your bathroom and toilet again. Guests like clean sanitary facilities that they can use. Wash the sheets again and turn out the pillows. Make sure the house is dust-free.

Do the shopping and make sure there is enough food and drink in the house, so that guests do not lack anything. Of course, your guests don’t want to miss anything from home. They will immediately ask for the WIFI password or another way to access the internet. It is a good idea for guests to leave a note in the guest room with instructions on how to access the internet. It is also nice for guests to have a telephone in their room.

The guest room

Naturally, you want your guest room to be in perfect order. Of course, clean sheets and pillows should not be missing, but also consider whether the bed is comfortable. Are there enough pillows to support your body during a night’s sleep? Some guests also like to have an extra plaid in their guest room, so that if it gets very cold they can spread this plaid over their sheets. Also consider extra bedding in the closet. Accidents can easily happen. Make sure that the guests have new, fresh sheets if, for example, one of the guests becomes ill or accidentally wets their bed.

The guests would like to get rid of their belongings. No one likes living out of a suitcase. Provide an empty closet with enough hangers to hang their clothes. A cupboard with shelves is also nice to stack the sweaters you brought with you. In addition to a wardrobe, a cupboard next to the bed is also nice for your guest. This way he or she can store the telephone, keys and a book here. You can provide a night lamp and an alarm clock yourself.

Provide a curtain for the windows that can be completely closed, so that it is completely dark in the bedroom. If you do not have a blackout curtain, offering sleeping masks may be an option. This way your guests can still enjoy a dark night’s sleep. If it is very warm in the room, perhaps also provide a fan or some other way to make the room cooler. In winter, an extra heater is not an unnecessary luxury.

The bathroom

If you only have one bathroom, it is advisable to have a lock on the door. This way everyone has privacy when they use the shower or toilet. If you have taken a shower yourself, you will have to dress yourself so that you do not encounter your guests half-naked on the landing. You can hang a bathrobe in the bathroom for guests to prevent such situations. You should also prepare a bottle of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and hand soap in the bathroom. To pamper your guests extra, you can offer them deodorant, body lotion, fragrance or shaving supplies. For female guests, it is useful to also have items such as sanitary towels and tampons at home.

Create a corner where you place freshly washed towels and washcloths. They can use this themselves and throw it in the laundry basket, which you also place in the bathroom. If you have agreed that guests do not have to bring a toothbrush, provide a new toothbrush and a full tube of toothpaste on the shelf above the sink. Your guests will also like to have a mirror to check themselves after showering.

Extra pampering

Of course it is nice to spoil your guests extra during their stay. For example, you can set up a corner in the bedroom with a minibar. Fill the minibar with delicious drinks. Guests will also appreciate a Senseo machine or kettle. Provide mugs, spoons, pads, different types of tea, coffee creamer, sugar and a small cookie. If you find this too much of a treat, you can also place a carafe of water with some clean glasses around it.

To pamper your guests extra before going to bed, you can place a good bottle of wine and glasses. Many guests will also use nuts or chips in the room. The guests can use this to toast the beautiful day they had with you and make plans for the next day. To make it extra cozy, place some candles with a pack of matches. Pay attention to fire safety and make sure you have a fire extinguisher and fire blanket in your home.

To welcome

When guests enter your home, it is nice to start a conversation first. Offer them a cup of coffee or tea and ask about their trip. A little introduction is good for the guests. After the first cup of coffee you can show them the house. You show them where everything is and show them the way to their own bedroom. You can also show the bathroom and tell them when you use the shower yourself. Afterwards, let them relax in their own guest room.

Give your guests a key so that they can decide for themselves when they leave and re-enter the house. A key for the guest room door is also nice for guests. This way they can leave valuables behind safely. Discuss with your guests when you will leave the house and when you will return home. This way they can also take this into account.

If you have guests who misbehave or who cause arguments, you can safely show them the door. Remember that it is your house and you make the rules here .
