Buying something, how do you see through the talk?

When you buy something, it can be difficult to see through the possible talk of the seller. But when do you know whether it is really about ,sales talk, or is the seller someone who simply provides sound information about the possible product to buy and can help you make the decision? Still, if it’s really talk, you have to separate the wheat from the chaff to decide whether and, if so, what to purchase. If it is a larger purchase, it is logical that you obtain information about the product (large is of course also subjective, you will have to decide for yourself what you consider large or substantial.) You will have to weigh things against each other to arrive at a decision to be made. Do you have to do your homework well in advance and if so, is it still necessary to listen to the salesman’s talk?

Add nuance

What matters is that you have to learn to add nuance. Of course, if you are going to make a (relatively) large expense in the store, it doesn’t hurt that you do some preparation. This may mean searching for general information on the internet, but it may also mean delving into the experiences of other people. Quite a few people give their opinions about products on the internet. If not on web shops, then in blogs or special forums.
In addition, the environment can play a role and friends, family or acquaintances can also have experiences that you can use.

What matters is that you consider what the other person says. Nothing is perfect and what is important to one person may not be important at all to another. An opinion given by that person is then slightly less relevant.
You apply the nuance at every level and when you are fully prepared, you know what the seller may be talking about and you can form your opinion more easily.

Check

A salesperson with a good talk does not necessarily talk nonsense. Make sure you ask questions, you want to understand everything and don’t let yourself be thrown around with terms you don’t know. You may not dare to ask the questions it is about. However, it is better to do this, because you will understand it better and based on the seller’s answer, you will find out whether he/she knows what he/she is talking about. Moreover, there are no stupid questions!

Be critical

Make sure you remain critical in all respects and beautiful sentences that speak to your mouth, which many salespeople will say, are empty words if you do nothing with them. A design is very personal, so there is no point in discussing it.

What you can do is ask him/her to make comparisons . What does one product have versus the other and let him/her explain it well. After all, the salesperson who knows what he/she is talking about suddenly becomes a lot more credible when you notice that he/she knows what he/she is talking about.

To summarize

If you don’t remember, because so much has been covered, make sure the seller provides a complete summary. Someone who knows what he/she is talking about is so knowledgeable that he can easily make a good summary based on the wishes previously formulated.
A summary is more than a list. It is a compact whole, where the important aspects are reviewed and you can more easily weigh the pros and cons against each other to come to a decision to purchase (or not).

Customized advice may be part of that summary and then you will be presented with a good picture to help you make a decision.

Finally

There are sellers who only talk smooth and there are sellers who give you sound advice. Make sure you have done enough homework or have the necessary knowledge to separate the wheat from the chaff. This is how you arrive at your desired product.
